What is Gems?
Gems is a cool plugin that adds a whole new RPG mechanic to your server: the gems. It's mainly used in survivals but still can be used anywhere else. Your imagination is your limit.
The gems
Gems are items that gives specific stats when they're used on a weapon / armor that can receive them. A gem slot has a color, and can only be filled with a gem of the same one.
There is three (well, four) colors of gem:
Getting a gem
By default, the only way to get gems is to drop them from monsters. Drop rates are low, but configurable.
Using a gem
To use a gem, you first need an item that has an empty gem slot.
Once it is done, you need to put this item in an anvil in the first slot, and the gem in the second one. (Old gem, with op stats in the screen ._.)
After what, you just have to take the result item, and you're done !
Adding a gem slot
The list of the items that can receive a gem slot is configurable.
To add a gem slot to an item, you first need to put the item in the first anvil slot.
Then, add a piece of Orichalcum in the second slot.
Take the result item, and you have a new gem slot with a random color!
The orichalcum and the lunar stone
Since 0.3 Update, you can create the orichalcum.
And since 0.6, you can create the lunar stone. Lunar Stones are used the same way as Orichalcum, however they do not add gem slots: they improve the item. An improved weapon deal more damage, and an improved armor gives more armor points.
How to create an Orichalcum or a Lunar Stone?
You'll need to build an altar first, like this one:
Made of:
Then, you drop a nether star on the pressure plate and zoof! It's starting the process. Depending of if it's day or night, it will create an orichalcum or a lunar stone.
You can also combine 4 orichalcum dust in the crafting table to get an orichalcum. You can get orichalcum dust by removing gems from an item with the protection scrolls.
The protection scroll
What is the protection scroll? It's an item you can use in the anvil, to open a menu, to finally be able to empty all the gem slots of this item!
Beware, because a basic protection scroll only gives 60% chances of success, and won't protect your item from breaking if it fails!
There is several scrolls type, but only the basic is craftable.
You need to put a paper in the middle of the crafting table, and 4 blaze powders on the sides, like this:
This will give you a basic protection scroll.
Other scrolls can not be obtained by default, up to you to add your own ways (Want some MythicMobs to drop them? 100% possible. Vote reward, shop purchase, you name it. If you can't do something, let me know and I should fix it!)
Permissions: Only one permission for now: gems.admin
It gives access to the /gems command, which can be used by the console or a player with the permission.
