I've been playing Minecraft on and off since Alpha 1.2.4. (I played the bootlegged copy until I bought the game just before the official release because of the announced price change), but I had never gotten around to beating the Ender Dragon—until today. My end goal in the game was always to build a self-sufficient manor of my own and enjoy a peaceful life until I eventually got bored and quit. Then, after a couple of years or so, I'd create a new world and start all over again. At least, that was the case until my daughter, my wife, and I started a new realm about a month ago. We had played together before, but back then, my daughter was still new to the game, so she just stuck with me in my manor life until we eventually quit. Since then, however, Minecraft has quickly become her "thing," and now, at the age of 10, she has become a five-year Minecraft veteran. She guided us through all the new and exciting features, like trading, raids, the updated enchantment and brewing systems, and the totem, and eventually helped me beat my first Ender Dragon today—after 13 whole years. Seeing that credit screen and the poem for the first time just felt different. Maybe because I took the most scenic route to it; getting married, having a child, raising that child to become a minecraft veteran and getting her help to beat the game. submitted by /u/Less_Wallaby [link] [comments] |
