Can't install forge.

I already have java installed, but when I try to open the forge installer (for 1.8.9), an empty command prompt opens for a second and then closes itself. Nothing happens after this. I have tried restarting my computer and reinstalling java, even trying with another version of forge. Anyone has any idea on what to do?

(context: I normally use Lunar Client but then I wanted to use custom mods, so now im trying to switch to forge.)
