colloquial abbreviations

another discussion thread (boring, i know, im waiting for something interesting to write abt which will be a nice quality thread)

do you guys feel you are up to date with abbreviations/text slang?

what about when verbally speaking? do you say things like "w-b-u" or "what about you" -- ik it sounds dumb but i actually have lots of friends that do that

and do you think it should be taught in language courses, seeing as it does have a pretty meaningful role in conversations and language?
