gunther friggin sucks

guys i might be skill issued but... i can't do gunther race for the life of me, i still use wyld boots cause he's so insufferable. every time i get a decent run i fall of a tree or smth like that and when i actually finish the race it's always about 40sec. i have watched tens of videos on yt on how to do it, tried different routes, but i just simply can't. what can i actually do about my skill issue?
