I still don't get phantom hate

I know I'm VERY late to the whole phantom thing but I still see people hating on it, I don't see how it's bad.

The main complaint that i see is that they're just annoying, if they're annoying you than just sleep, it's so simple to get rid of them, the creeper is more annoying and there isn't a way to get rid of it entirely, yet no one complains. Everyone complains about how easy Minecraft is but when they add a challenging feature they also complain. The phantom adds an interesting dynamic to the game and makes going on long adventures more difficult.

Another thing I wanted to add is that they only spawn on the surface at night, most of the dangerous encounters will be in other dimensions or underground.
