Is it just me, or do Skeletons in Bedrock Edition shoot extremely fast?

I dread fighting these things. Even with a shield and slowly advancing on them, they shoot you in the interval between you hitting them and raising your shield again to block so you literally cannot kill one without it hitting you at least once (at least not until you get some heavily enchanted gear).

Combined with them never missing a shot, they don't really seem fair. It's like Halo 2 Legendary sniper Jackals all over again.

I don't remember them being this bad when I played Java Edition back in the day. Was there a change at some point?
