Item names including player stats

I was wondering if it was possible to make an item have the name of a players stats count. For instance, if a players "coins" stat is 5, if you renamed a map to have its name be: %stat.player/coins% it would make the name of the map be 5. I'm not sure if this is a thing or not, ive tried renaming the item's lore to the stat and the name to the stat of the player but they dont work.
