Replicate Dispenser

Is there a way to make a dispenser never run out of items, so essentially like the replicate mode on the chest except for a dispenser? I tried hooking up a replicate chest to a dispenser using a hopper but discovered the chest only replicates when the chest is open. Anything I could try?
