Severe connection issues since October 2nd

I was quite surpised to see nobody else mentioning this on the forums but since yesterday (October 2nd) I ,and numerous people I've spoken to, have been exerpiencing severe connection issues. It feels like I constantly have 500 ping, and I know for a fact that it's not my wifi (supported by the fact I am not the only one experiencing the same problem). Does anyone have any insight into why this is happening, or if it'll be fixed soon?
