Sticky Thread Customizing

I know XF has the ability to "Stick" threads. Just to be sure I understand how this works with XF...does "Sticking" a thread mean that it "sticks/stays" at the top of the forum category it's in (doesn't move down the thread list as "normal" threads would)?

Also...is there a way with a stock install of XF to make sticky threads stand out from regular threads...either with a different background color or other sort of styling difference from regular threads?
