When moving a thread to another forum the "view" count is lost

We have a private developer subforum where things are evolving over time and when they are ready we move the thread to a public forum.
When moving a thread to another forum the "view" count is lost. Is there a way to avoid this?
Interestingly the view count is not zero but some seemingly coincidental number, but always way lower than the original count.
