Why are eman cheese spots "slow"?

What I want to know is the reasoning behind its lack of speed.
I was always curious, because it looks like regular RCM Eman minus the worry that you might die if you walk slightly too close to gloom.

Is it because everyone who does cheese spot has bad gear?
Is it because you have to sacrifice a chestplate for a mithril coat?
Does it have some kind of damage penalty?

What's the reason and why shouldn't I just do it right now?
