The 7.62×25mm Tokarev cartridge was developed in the Soviet Union in the 1930s, based on the earlier 7.63×25mm Mauser. It was primarily used in TT-33 pistols and PPSh-41 and PPS submachine guns during World War II. Known for its high velocity and armor penetration, it remained in Soviet and Eastern Bloc service well into the Cold War.
