What your suggestion is : Allow users up to 24 hours daily to bump their thread or resource to the first page at the top.
Pros :
• Does not require any comments or bumping through text.
• A lot of users could bring more attention to their stuff if they are new
• Active users can keep their stuff fresh (un-active can be pooled)
• New stuff can still have a chance to be shown on the first page before a resource/thread gets bumped
Cons :
• Users will have to use search for an old resource
• A lot of usual stuff will be lingering around
Argument For it : People want to keep their favorite and the communities favorite content in the most reachable and accessible spot without having to go searching through. Another reason why this automated or manually operated bumping process is a good idea, is because people won't have to go through the trouble of resource updates, new posts on their threads, and be those annoying kids we all know on forums that bump their thread every 5 minutes when you see "bump bump bump" on the latest post.
Counterargument : I won't counter argument this because I would really like to see this feature get implemented. If I were to argue the other way all I could say is that it lets people get lazy but that's the point in a way. It shows staff the most active users.
